Betancuria, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain

During the Fuerteventura Grand Tour and the Flavors of Fuerteventura we passed through Betancuria, the former capital of all of the Canary Islands.
The village is very beautiful and romantic and has the only Michelin recommended restaurant Casa Santa Maria on the island.

Another place worth visiting is the Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepcion – the Church of Immaculate Conception. It houses the Museum of Sacred Art and the entrance fee is 1.50 Euro per person (ca. 1.70 USD). It helps to keep the church open for the inhabitants, which are some of the poorest on Fuerteventura. The museum and church can be viewed relatively quickly. Around ten to fifteen minutes should be sufficient for this “must do” when in Betancuria on the beautiful island of Fuerteventura.

We would visit the church again in our future, plus we would want to eat at Casa Santa Maria in our future too when we hopefully visit Fuerteventura again. Caleta de Fuste was our base during our January/February 2016 visit.
